The TV highlight for me this week is MotherFatherSon. It’s a new UK drama starring US actor Richard Gere. If, like me, you’ve been waiting to see Gere turn up in a TV show, savour this. He’s already said that this will be both the first and the last TV show he will ever film. Or so he says. Reviews have been very favourable and I’ve heard more people talking about this than ANY film Gere has made in the past 20 years. The attention may sway the actor.
If there’s one article to read on the show, maybe start with this one from The Guardian: “MotherFatherSon: was its loveless sex scene the most chilling in TV history?”
Before you get started on this week’s TV recommendations, it’s worth taking a look at this news story…
The Leaving Neverland fallout is still continuing, with The Simpsons producers choosing to pull the episode Stark Raving Dad from the series run. You’ll remember this as the episode about Homer Simpson meeting a patient in hospital who believes he is Michael Jackson. The singer was the voice actor on the episode in an uncredited role.
As per Variety:
“This was a treasured episode. There are a lot of great memories we have wrapped up in that one, and this certainly doesn’t allow them to remain,” James L Brooks said.
